We acquire and care for land in Rochester to benefit nature and preserve our rural character!

Our annual meeting was held at the PONY PASTURE rain garden (funded by the Garden Club of Buzzards Bay) to celebrate the completion of the stone wall restoration.
CHURCH’S WILDLIFE frontage has been spruced up with a work day. The video below shows the transformation. Thanks to all who helped!

Since its inception in 1997, the Rochester Land Trust has secured over 1100 acres for conservation. This is no small task for a board of volunteer directors with no paid staff. We have preserved some of Rochester’s most scenic properties: Church’s Field, George’s Pony Pasture, Church’s Wildlife, the airport field (Doggett’s Brook Farm), and Olde Field Farm (Shoolman). Some of these have been purchased outright and others donated and some through collaboration with other conservation partners. These properties are maintained by us and open to the public.
We maintain parking, signage, and trails to encourage passive recreational uses, such as hiking, biking, skiing, horseback riding, geocaching, nature study, as well as hunting, where allowed.
We also hold many conservation restrictions (CR’s) on private property owned by others. CR’s prevent those properties from being further developed.
