Thank you to ALL who have donated and worked on this project. After a year is mostly completed! Come visit our wetland garden and bat house.

George Church was a very generous man, and much of his philanthropy was directed to the Rochester Land Trust to forever protect the land that he loved most. When his estate was settled in 2016 we acquired what we call George’s Pony Pasture, named that because George kept his pony in that field, which had become overgrown by the time of his death. We hired the now late Chris Faustino to clear many of the trees and move a number of boulders. The last few years Barnes Tree Service has kindly mowed both that field and Church’s Field across the street, and volunteers and interns have continued to mow the frontage and manage the vegetation along the long and beautiful stone walls

With the donations and match we have been able to bring the walls back to their former beauty and with the help of volunteers and their equipment and time have been restoring the fields. It is still a work in progress. Keep watching!

Since 1997, the Rochester Land Trust has secured 1096 acres for conservation.  These properties consist of woods, fields and waterways enjoyed by many. Our efforts help sustain clean water, fresh air, and a deeper connection to nature for people of all walks of life. We maintain parking, signage, and trails to encourage passive recreational uses, such as hiking, biking, skiing, geocaching, nature study, as well as hunting, where allowed.
